8/11 Walls around kitchen garden, 100m East of Estate Office, Longwood.

Walls around kitchen garden. Circa 1880, probably by G Devey for Lord Northesk. Brick with tiled coping. Walls enclose rectangle of 150 x 100m. 3m high walls, with sloping buttresses every 25m and on diagonal at corners to 4m high rectangular brick piers, with toothed cornice and stone coping. Walls have wide raised band 2.5m up, toothed cornice and tiled coping with ridge tiles. On side facing estate office, in centre, archway with Dutch gable above round headed arch with hood, containing wrought iron gates and lunette. On opposite side similar gable on plain piece of wall with small double doors below. Beside this is greenhouse built off wall with at one end hipped projecting wing. On one end wall small archway and much altered cottage built on wall outside garden.
