Description
Station House is a house built around 1825. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone with gritstone dressings and features rusticated quoins. The roof is slate, and there are stone gable end and ridge stacks with plain decorative bands. The eaves have a plain stone band.
The building has two storeys and three bays. On the south-east elevation, there is a central panelled door with a stone porch. Flanking the door are two 2-light chamfered mullion windows, each with dripmoulds that have returned stops. Above these, there are two similar windows with dripmoulds. Over the door, there is a single light window in a flush surround. All the windows are iron small pane windows with intersecting tracery at the top and a four pane central casement.
The house was likely built for the High Peak and Cromford Railway, which was founded in 1825, and it may have served as the station-master's house for Friden.
