Description
Friden Grange is an early 19th-century farmhouse constructed from coursed squared limestone with painted stone dressings and a stone slate roof. It features stone ridge stacks and has a prominent central gabled bay that rises two and a half stories, flanked by two-story side bays. The side bays have single plane roofs that extend from the central roof, maintaining a consistent line.
On the south elevation, the central bay contains a three-light chamfered mullion window topped with a Tudor dripmould. To the east, there is a recessed flush doorcase with a bracketed flat stone hood, leading to a door with three long panels and a thin fanlight above. To the west, there is a single light window in a flush surround, also with a Tudor dripmould above. A similar window is positioned above the door, and the central window above, which was originally a two-light window, has been altered to include 20th-century casements. In the gable above, there is a single light window with a dripmould. Most windows feature iron small paned designs with intersecting tracery tops and four-pane casements, except for the central first-floor window.
