Description
Winster Hall is a small country house that has been converted into a public house. It dates from the early 18th century and is constructed from ashlar gritstone, featuring rusticated quoins, an eaves cornice, and an open balustraded parapet at the front, with solid sides. The building has a square plan and the south elevation consists of three storeys and five bays, with the central bay highlighted by giant pilasters. The windows are glazing bar sashes set in projecting shouldered architraves, each with keyblocks above. The central doorway, which dates from the late 18th century, has a moulded pediment supported by Doric half columns, and there is a bulls-eye window on the second floor of the central bay. Although the interior has been significantly altered, it still features a notable 18th century turned baluster staircase.
