Description

30 Matlock Street is a mid-18th century house that has been altered and is now a shop with a flat above. It is constructed of deeply-coursed dressed sandstone with a Welsh slate roof. The two-storey, two-window front features large quoins. A doorway on the left has a six-panel door and a blocked overlight within a painted ashlar surround. A 20th-century shop window is on the right. The first floor has projecting stone sills and flush ashlar surrounds to the metal casement windows. The roofline has ashlar gable copings and ashlar end stacks with bands, offsets, and cornices. The interior has not been inspected. Despite the alterations, the facade makes a significant contribution to the street scene.
