Description
This is a Dutch barn dating from the early 19th century, belonging to the Manor. It is constructed of rubble limestone with gritstone dressings and quoins, topped with a stone slate roof that features a stone gable end stack. The barn has two storeys and a south elevation consisting of six bays. The low ground floor includes a byre with, from left to right, an entrance opening, a partly blocked opening that has a window set in an enlarged entrance, and another partly blocked opening with a window. Above these openings is a continuous stone band that serves as both lintels and sills for four tall round-arched openings, all of which have gritstone quoins. To the right, there is an additional entrance opening with quoins and two square openings above that have dressed stone surrounds. This barn is noted for being an unusually grand and 'architectural' farm building.
