Description
The Lower Stables at the Hall is a stable block dating from the 17th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of rubble limestone with gritstone dressings and quoins, topped with a stone slate roof featuring stone coped gables. The building is two storeys high.
On the south elevation, there is a blocked doorway on the left, which has a stone lintel and quoins, along with a later window added in. To the right, there is a narrow breather with a stone surround, followed by 20th-century double garage doors, two blocked breathers with stone surrounds, and another blocked doorway with a stone lintel and quoins, which also has a later window. Further right, there is a 2-light window with a chamfered mullion and a doorway that features a stone lintel with a keystone and chamfered jambs. The first floor includes two 3-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows. The right-hand end of the building, which dates from the 19th century, retains its original stable fittings.
