Description
Arncliffe View and the attached garage to Number 5 are four houses located in Egton Village, dating from the early 19th century. Number 5 and Arncliffe View were altered in the late 19th century, while Numbers 6 and 7 were remodeled in the 20th century. The buildings are constructed of dressed sandstone with slate or pantile roofs.
Number 5, positioned at the left end, is two stories high with a two-window front and a two-story, one-window bay on the right. It features a 20th-century panelled door beneath a divided overlight, flanked by 4-pane sash windows in the main part, with similar windows on the first floor. The gables are coped, and there are end corniced stacks. The bay on the right has a board door beneath a 16-pane sash window and a right end stack. The garage has double board doors on strap hinges beneath a long painted timber lintel.
Numbers 6 and 7 have a two-story, three-window front. Number 6 includes a panelled door in a chamfered, quoined opening, while Number 7 has a 20th-century board door. All windows in these two houses are 16-pane sashes, with stacks located in the center and right-of-center.
Arncliffe View also has a two-story, three-window front, featuring a 20th-century panelled door beneath an overlight, flanked by 4-pane sash windows, with similar windows on the first floor. The gables are coped, and there are end corniced stacks. All windows have painted stone sills and tooled lintels above the openings.
