Description

Church View, Hill View, and Woodbine Cottage are three houses located in Egton Village, dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, with some alterations made in the 20th century. They are constructed from sandstone that is coursed and squared, featuring herringbone tooling and hammering, topped with pantile roofs.

Hill View is a two-storey house with a three-window front, situated between Church View, which has a lower two-storey, two-window front on the left, and Woodbine Cottage, also with a lower two-storey, two-window front on the right. Hill View has a 20th-century panelled door set in a renewed quoined architrave, topped with an enriched flat hoodmould. The central window on the first floor has two mullioned lights, likely original, while the other windows have three lights with renewed mullions. All windows are fitted with 6-pane casements, and the house features corbelled eaves, coped gables, and shaped kneelers, along with end stacks.

Church View has a 20th-century panelled door to the left of a board rear-access door, both beneath tooled lintels. All windows are 12-pane sashes with painted stone sills set in architraves. The house has a coped gable with a block kneeler on the left and an end stack.

Woodbine Cottage features a 20th-century part-glazed door with a narrow 4-pane sash to the left and a square 4-pane sash to the right. The first floor has similar squat windows. All openings have bordered hammered lintels, and the windows have painted stone sills. The right gable is coped, and there is a right end stack.
