Description
Stone House is a farmhouse built in the mid-18th century, likely incorporating parts of an earlier structure, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th century. It is constructed from sandstone, featuring a mix of rubble, tooled, and hammered stone, and has pantile roofs. The building has a three-cell, hearth-passage layout with an added outshut.
The main front is low, two-storey, and has two windows, with a 1½-storey wing and outshut extension to the right. There is a four-panel passage door located beneath a plain lintel to the left of the outshut. The main front features four-pane sash windows with painted stone sills and tooled lintels. The outshut contains a board door beneath a timber lintel and a small inserted light to the right. The main front has a coped gable on the right side and end stacks, although the left stack has been demolished. The outshut has a catslide roof with a coped right gable, a block kneeler, and an end stack.
At the rear, there is a board cross-passage door beneath a tooled lintel, located to the right of a 16-pane sash window. On the right return, there is a two-light, 16-pane horizontal sliding sash window beneath a plain lintel. Inside, there is a plain stone fireplace with a cast iron grate in the room to the left of the cross-passage.
