Description

Burley Cottage, part of a terrace, dates from the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed from finely tooled-and-margined sandstone and features a pantiled roof with stone ridge and copings. The building has three storeys and one wide bay. There is a four-panel door on the left and a small sash window on the right. On the first floor, there is a canted oriel window from around 1900, which has a panelled base and glazing bars on the upper sashes. The top floor contains a 16-pane sash window. The right side has a coping and a curved kneeler. There is a second entrance at the rear, leading onto Brig Garth, which is at first floor level and features a boarded door in a surround of pilasters and a bracketed hood. The cottage also has scattered small sash windows.
