Description
Peacock Cottage is a house dating from the early 18th century, with some alterations. It is constructed from very lightly tooled sandstone, featuring sections with different toolings. The roof is pantiled, supported by stone kneelers and copings, with a brick chimney stack. The building has two storeys and two bays, with a plinth at the base.
On the left side, there is a replaced six-panel door located beneath a bracketed flat hood, and to the right of the door, there is a recess for a bootscraper. The right side features paired twelve-pane sash windows in wooden box frames, while the first floor has two similar sash windows positioned at the centre. Remnants of earlier horizontal windows can still be seen. A sundial is set in a nowy-headed panel at the first floor level. The eaves are coved, with very large kneelers at both ends. A ridge chimney is located on the right side, which may be shared with Lantern Cottage.
