Description
Fisherman's Cottage and Sea View is a pair of houses with shops, built in the mid-19th century. They are constructed from finely tooled and margined coursed sandstone, featuring raised, chamfered, tooled-and-margined quoins. The building has a pantiled roof with a brick chimney. It stands three storeys high with a basement and has a total of three bays.
The basement includes two 8-pane shop windows, which may be original, framed by panelled side pilasters that support end brackets and have bracketed cornices. Central steps lead to paired 4-panel doors topped with tall overlights. On the ground and first floors, there are flanking 12-pane sash windows, while the upper floor features shorter 9-pane sashes. The centre has blank window panels, and all windows have projecting cills. Under the steps, there are paired 4-panel shop doors. A tall chimney is located at the right end against the gable wall of Gilroy House.
