Description
The Commondale Shepherds' Memorial is a war memorial located on open moorland. It consists of a narrow, round-headed gritstone pillar approximately 2 meters high, featuring rough diagonal tooling. At the top of the pillar, the Guards’ Fusiliers badge is carved in relief within a small panel. Below this, a central panel displays the inscription: "FOR/ REMEMBRANCE./ GUARDSMEN/ ROBBIE LEGGOTT/ KILLED IN ACTION/ 1916./ ALF COCKERILL/ DIED OF WOUNDS/ 1920./ DUTY 1914." The pillar is supported by a low stone base.
