Description
This guide stone, located on the north side of the road from Stokesley, dates from the early 18th century. It is a square stone approximately 0.5 meters high, featuring a roughly-chamfered top. The south face of the stone indicates directions, with "TO WHITBY" accompanied by a hand pointing east and "TO STOKESLEY" with a hand pointing west. The west face displays "JISBER" (Guisborough) with a hand pointing north. The initials "J.P.M." are inscribed on the top of the stone.
