Description

This milestone, located 150 meters north of Bridge Farm House, dates from the 18th century. It is made of stone and has been painted. The stone is square in section with a hipped top and is set diagonally to the road. It is inscribed on both front faces with 'III, MILES, to Lyndhurst' and 'V, MILES, to Lymington'. This milestone is situated on the route of the Lymington, Lyndhurst and Rumbridge Turnpike established in 1756.
