Description

This milestone, dating from the 18th century, is located 150 meters north of Tile Barn Farmhouse on the opposite side of the road. It is made of painted stone and has a square plan with a hipped top, set diagonally to the road. The milestone is inscribed on both front faces with 'IIII, MILES, to, Lymington' and 'IIII, MILES, to, LYNDHURST'. It is part of the route of the Lymington, Lyndhurst & Rumbridge Turnpike established in 1756.
