Description

Redwings is a detached cottage dating from the late 18th century, accompanied by flanking garden walls. The cottage is built of Flemish bond brick and features a hipped thatched roof with brick stacks. It is two stories high with a three-window front. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door set within a moulded architrave topped by a pediment, which displays a Sun Insurance disc. On either side of the door are 12-pane sash windows with louvred shutters and flat arches. The first floor also has three 12-pane sash windows. The left side of the cottage is windowless, while the right side includes a sash window, a casement window, and an outshut with a two-light casement window in the dormer. At the rear, there is a door within a pedimented case and additional 12-pane sash windows. The interior is reported to feature stairs with Tuscan newels and stick balusters, along with two-panelled doors. The attached garden walls, made of Flemish bond brick, have brick coping and rise to meet the side walls of the house.
