Description

This is a cottage, originally one building but later divided into a pair, dating from the early 18th century, with a significant refronting in the late 18th century. The building is constructed of red brick in English bond on the end walls, and Haddenham gault brick in Flemish bond on the front wall. The roof is tiled, with parapetted and tumbled gable ends. A large ridge stack is rendered but retains exposed red brick strings, and there are also end stacks of red brick. The cottage has one storey and an attic, featuring three gable dormers. The front has three ground floor windows; two are set within original late 18th-century segmental arches, and one is a blind window at the north end. A lobby entrance is accessed via a double staircase with some 19th-century cast iron railings. The straight brick joint on the north end indicates where the refronting took place. A 19th-century horizontal sliding sash window is visible within a gable.
