Description

Hatchetts Mill is a building that has been converted into a house. It dates from the late 18th century with some 19th-century additions. The structure is primarily made of brick, including some yellow bricks, and features a plain tile roof on the older section and slate roofs on the newer parts.

The oldest section is two storeys high with an attic and includes a five-bay lean-to at one end, along with a low addition in front. There is an off-centre, two-bay, one-and-a-half storey wing at the front, and at the opposite end, there is a three-storey wing from the 19th century that extends to the rear.

The front facade features a one-and-a-half storey wing to the left of the central bay, which has a central doorway on the first floor, with small casement windows on either side at the end and an external stack on the left-hand side. There is a first-floor window in the left bay and a central first-floor 16-pane sash window. To the right, there is a low two-storey rectangular bay with a hipped roof, featuring three-light casements and tile hanging between them. In the right bay, there are two-light segmental head casements above a three-light gabled dormer. The roof is half-hipped, and there is a ridge stack situated between the right-hand bays. The right end gable belongs to the 19th-century wing. All machinery was removed when the mill was converted into a house.
