Description
Hankelow Mill is a building that has been converted into two houses. It dates from the early 19th century and is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, topped with a slate roof. The mill stands three storeys high with an attic.
The entrance front features a gable end with three bays, including a central double doorway leading to the first floor, which is accessed by a flight of 20th-century steps. Flanking the doorway are cast iron window frames with 6 x 6 panes and cambered heads, which have bowed outwards due to a fire. Above this, on the second floor, there are two 20th-century single-light casement windows, and the gable has a loft door with a hoist in front of it.
The left side of the building consists of two sections, with the leftmost part dating from the mid to late 19th century. The right side has six bays, featuring two ground floor windows of cast iron with 6 x 6 panes and six 2-light casement windows on the first floor. The left addition has three bays, while the right side mirrors this, and at the rear, there is a 20th-century bowed projection.
