Description
Rose Cottage is a house that dates back to the 17th century, with additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame with brick infill and a plain tile roof. The entrance front includes a gabled porch from the 20th century on the right, next to a section with small framing on a brick plinth, which has angle and tension braces on the far left and angle braces on the fourth upright from the left. There are two ground floor 3-light casement windows, and at the first floor, the wall height has been raised, with new brickwork painted to mimic timber framing, featuring two 3-light casement windows. To the right, there is a single-storey addition from the 19th and 20th centuries. The left gable end has timber framing and a large chimney stack with offsets, along with small framing in the gable.
Inside, the cottage has chamfered ceiling beams with decorative end stops in the parlour, and an inglenook fireplace with a similarly moulded bressumer. It also features wide board doors and a staircase from the 17th century, with timber framing exposed at the first floor level.
