Description
The Baptist Chapel, dated 1840, is a single-storey building constructed of red Flemish bond brick with a slate roof. The front of the chapel features five bays that are symmetrically arranged and separated by rendered and painted brick pilasters, which have simple capitals. The windows consist of 5 x 6 panes with round arched tops. Above the central window, there is a rectangular datestone that reads "Baptist Chapel A 1840 D."
The eastern end of the chapel has three blank bays divided by unrendered brick pilasters. The western end features three bays with rendered pilasters and a central flat-roofed porch added in the late 19th century, which has central double doors with flush lower panels and raised and fielded upper panels. On either side of the porch are round-arched window openings, each containing two round-arched lights and a circular light above. To the left of the porch is a later baptistry that is shorter in height, with a three-bay front divided by brick pilasters and a central flat-roofed porch supported by Tuscan pillars. This baptistry extends along the northern side of the chapel.
