Description

The memorial lamp standard in Audlem, dedicated to Richard Baker Bellyse, was erected around 1877. It is made of grey granite and cast iron. The structure features a square plinth with a chamfered base and a cyma moulded top. Supporting the cast iron lamp standard are four lion paw feet with acanthus leaf gaiters, which hold up a circular cyma moulded base. From this base, three tiers of four demi-columns are arranged one on top of the other, each with flutings on their necks or lower bodies. The columns culminate in a Corinthian capital, from which a 20th-century pole extends, holding three lamps.
