Description
Wharf Cottage, located at Audlem Wharf along the Audlem Shropshire Union Canal, is a lock cottage built between 1827 and 1830. It is a two-storey variant of Thomas Telford's standard design, constructed of brick with an overhanging slate roof and two chimneys. The building features a large polygonal bay with a hipped roof, which includes three cambered arch four-light sash windows on the ground floor. Above this bay, there is a similar window flanked by two flat-arched blind windows. To the left of the bay, there is a single cambered arch four-light sash window on each floor, along with a small 20th-century window on the first floor. To the right of the bay, there is a low entrance lobby extension with a cambered arch doorway and a 20th-century part-glazed door.
