Description

The Lymes is an early 19th-century house with a 17th-century wing to the rear. It is constructed of rendered brick with a slate roof. The house has a T-shaped plan. The front of the house features a later bow window to the left, with a central half-glazed door. Above this is a sash window with 3 x 3 panes. To the right of the entrance is a further half-glazed door with a flat-roofed porch, and a bowed window with a classical wooden surround containing three lights of 3 x 4 sash panes. The first floor has sash windows with 3 x 3 panes to the left and right, and a sash window with 4 x 4 panes in the centre, all fitted with 20th-century louvred shutters. The garden front has two 20th-century bay windows to the ground floor; the right-hand one has French windows. The first floor above has sash windows of 4 x 4 panes, also with louvred shutters. A projecting gabled wing is located at the rear. Inside, the doors have six fielded panels. The rear wing features chamfered spine beams with run-out stops to the ground floor.
