Description
The Church of St Paul is a parish church built in 1839 by J Tulloch, with a chancel added in 1891. It is constructed of brick, with some stone dressings and areas of render, and features a slate roof. The church has a small single bay chancel and a nave with five narrow bays, topped by a west bell-cote. The chancel includes a sill string that steps up to a three-trefoiled light east window. The nave is supported by stepped, sloping top buttresses between the bays and diagonally set on the corners, each topped with corbelled octagonal finials. Each bay of the nave contains pointed recessed lancets. The west end features a large pointed door flanked by tall lancets, with a smaller lancet above. At the top of the bell-cote, there is a raised shaped apron leading to a square section, which has a rendered upper part with louvred bell openings and a small octagonal stone spire.
