Description

Nos. 80, 81, and 82 are a house that was later converted into three cottages, with one now serving as a museum exhibit and another as a chapel. The building dates from the mid-18th century, was extended in the late 18th century, and underwent alterations in the 19th century. The chapel was formed around 1925, and the museum was established around 1982. It is constructed of brick and has an old plain tile roof. The building is two storeys with an attic and was originally three bays, with an added bay at the upper end and later cottages beyond. There is a central hipped projection on the earlier part and an outshot at the rear.

The front features the older part on the right-hand side, which has a central four-panel door and a blocked doorway beside it. To the right, there is a three-light leaded casement window, and to the left, in the added bay, there is a three-light segmental head casement. At the left end, there is a plank door. A raised band runs across the first floor, broken over the centre bay and extending halfway across the added left-hand bay. The first floor has irregular three-light casements, and the roof has two-light leaded casements in eyebrow dormers. There are large ridge stacks at each end of the original building, and the roof abuts lower roofs at both ends. Inside the right-hand bay on the ground floor is the chapel from around 1925, featuring 19th-century panelling. In the added left-hand bay, there is a museum exhibit showcasing household items from the 18th century.
