Description

Cobby House is a house dating from the 17th century or early 18th century, constructed of painted stone with a slate roof. It has two storeys and four bays, with the fourth bay projecting under a gable, which was originally a barn. The windows are mostly 20th-century small-paned casements, although two first-floor windows feature small-paned fixed glazing with pivoted upper parts. There is a French window on the left side of the fourth bay and an entrance located in the second bay. The house has gable-end stacks, and the rear is similar to the front, with another entrance in the second bay.

Inside, the first bay contains the bases of full crucks, along with a tie beam that is truncated below the first floor. The second and third bays have chamfered beams and joists, with the joists displaying stepped stops at the fire beam. There is a stone fireplace with a stone stair to the right, and wide floorboards can be found on the first floor. Cobby House is included for its group value.
