Description

Jolliver Tree Farmhouse is a late 17th century or early 18th century building located in Colton Finsthwaite. It is constructed of roughcast stone and features a slate roof. The north elevation has two storeys and three bays, with an outhouse to the right and a small gabled outhouse at the second bay. The windows include casements, some of which are small-paned top-hung casements, and there are French windows in the third bay. The windows in the second bay are positioned higher to light the stairs. The gable-end stacks have a projecting stack to the right that is partially corbelled out. The east gable end displays varied windows, with sashed windows on the first floor and in the attic, featuring single glazing bars and horns, and the first-floor windows have label moulds. The entrance has a half-glazed door. The south elevation includes large ground floor casement windows and irregularly placed first-floor windows. Inside, there is a fielded panelled partition with a dado rail, cornice, and an eight-panel door. An adjacent round-headed entrance features Corinthian fluted flat pilasters and a moulded hood, with a door that has decorative fielded panels. The stone fireplace has a corbelled lintel, a moulded opening, and a rosette. The staircase is adorned with fluted square newels, turned balusters, and a moulded handrail.
