Description

Scar View Farmhouse and Cottage comprises two dwellings, dating to the late 18th century with a later 19th-century addition. The farmhouse section displays a lintel inscribed "A&M/1776". The buildings are constructed of roughcast stone rubble, with some dressed stone detailing. The east-facing elevation of the farmhouse is two storeys and four bays, though the final two bays are a later, lower addition. The farmhouse exhibits quoins. Windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set within stone surrounds. A central entrance is accessed via a four-panel door. Gable-end stacks are present. The cottage features 20th-century casement windows in stone surrounds and an entrance with a glazed door to the first bay. It also has a gable-end stack. The rear elevation of the farmhouse shows exposed stone and features sash windows with single glazing bars. The cottage has a 20th-century flat-roofed extension.
