Description
Low Allers is a late 18th-century farmhouse with two attached cottages, converted in the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed dressed stone with a stone slate roof and has a single ridge and two gable stacks. The building is two storeys high with a deep basement. The farmhouse section to the left has a central doorway approached by five steps, with a glazed plank door in a flush ashlar surround. Flankers are single 16-pane glazing bar sashes, with a larger sash to the right. Above are two smaller 12-pane glazing bar sashes. The cottages to the right have two central doorways with panel doors, with one 12-pane and one 16-pane glazing bar sash window to either side. Two similar sashes are located above. The north-west gable wall has two windows at basement level, and a single plain sash window on each floor above. The rear wall features a single doorway with a plank door in a flush ashlar surround, leading to the basement, and a roofless single-storey lean-to addition to the left. The interior contains an original fireplace with a 19th-century range.
