Description
Bridge End is a bastle house, possibly dating from around 1600, with some alterations. It is constructed from roughly coursed and squared stone, featuring some large quoins and ashlar dressings, topped with a stone-flagged roof. The building has two storeys and two windows. Access to the first floor is via side steps that lead up to a central Dutch door, which is set behind a flat-coped stepped wall. The door has a thin stone lintel above it, as do the late 19th-century sash windows on either side, which have thin stone sills. The right return gable features a central ground-floor door with a two-centred arched surround and a chamfered flat Tudor arch, along with a draw-bar slot. Above this door, there are two small sashes, placed irregularly, with one having glazing bars. The end chimneys are topped with a thin string near the top. Inside, the ground floor walls are approximately one metre thick.
