Description
Blackcleugh Farmhouse and outbuilding is a farmhouse and outbuilding dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with quoins and ashlar dressings, topped with a stone-flagged roof. The building has two and three storeys and consists of six bays. The house, located on the right, features a stone lintel over a boarded door positioned to the left of centre, with irregular fenestration. It has ground- and first-floor sash windows and small square second-floor windows, all set in recessed chamfered surrounds. The outbuilding on the left has a Dutch door to the right of centre, flanked by fixed lights with glazing bars, all under stone lintels, and vent slits above. There is a chimney at the right end. The right return of the building shows a blocked doorway in a chamfered surround with a large through-stone above it. The rear features small blocked square windows and a one-storey, one-bay pent addition, with bank entry to the first floor of the outbuilding. At the time of the survey, the property was empty and derelict.
