Description
The Old School House, likely built in the mid-17th century, was originally a manor house and is now divided into four tenements. It features thick stone rubble walls and a stone flag roof with five large round chimneys. The building has two storeys and windows with chamfered oak mullions and massive oak lintels. Inside, there are some panelled partitions, old oak doors with original snecks, and a chest dated 1674. At the rear, there are two gabled wings, and a later wing built at right angles to the east is made of slate rubble and has another round chimney. To the west, there is a low stone rubble barn that is also at right angles, featuring arrow slits and a slate dripstone. The Old School House and its attached barn, along with nearby properties, form a group of buildings of historical significance.
