Description

The Haven is a detached house situated on a corner plot in Ambleside. It dates to the 18th century and is constructed with roughcast over stone rubble. The two-storey front elevation features a centrally positioned door sheltered by a timber gabled porch. Flanking the door are two 16-paned sash windows on the ground floor, with three matching sash windows above. A gabled projection on the right-hand return wall includes an arched window at ground floor level. A wing extending along the lane has two 16-paned sash windows and one older window with wooden mullions on the ground floor, with a single window above. The Haven forms part of a group with nearby buildings including North Syke, The Golden Rule Hotel, The Old House, North View, Nos 1 to 3 Smithy Brow, Nos 1 to 4 Kirkstone Foot Cottage, the adjoining Cottage, and Springwell Cottage, Tom Fold.
