Description
The Hydro is a Victorian building designed in an Italian style. It is mainly two storeys high and features a stuccoed exterior with cornice bands between the storeys and round-headed dormers on the roof. The large sash windows are set in moulded architraves with cornices, and the lower windows have aprons. The front of the building, which faces the lake, has seven windows on the first floor, including a prominent two-storey round bay with a balustraded parapet. The entrance is located on the south side in a square three-storey tower, which has a round-arched doorway and a ground floor window, both adorned with fluted pilasters. The top floor of the tower features coupled round-arched windows on each face, complete with moulded arches, fluted pilasters, and a dentilled cornice. Later extensions to the south have been omitted from this description.
