Description
The Burlington Hotel is a prominent corner building located on Marine Parade, built in 1865. It is designed in the Italianate style and features three storeys with attics, all finished in stucco. The roof is a slate mansard with two tiers of dormers. The elevation facing Marine Parade consists of three bays, with a bracket eaves cornice and bands separating the floors. The second-floor windows are sash windows with verticals only and have cornices above them. The first floor features three round-headed windows and a tented canopy. There is a burnt-out glazed extension at the ground floor. The elevation facing the road has similar windows but includes three cast iron balconies at the first floor level, along with a central round-headed entrance flanked by half columns with caryatids supporting the central balcony. The ground floor is rusticated, and there is a further two-bay extension to the left in a matching style, featuring double round-headed windows with hood mouldings.
