Description
The White House, built in 1834, is a three-storey building located on Robinson Place in Bowness. It features a cement-rendered front and has eaves supported by box brackets. The entrance includes a glazed door with a lean-to hood, and there are three windows on each floor, set deep within the thick walls. Two of these windows are 12-paned sashes, while the others have been renewed. The White House, along with the New Hall Inn and attached buildings to the south, as well as Lowside and Fold Head on Fallbarrow Road, contributes to an important group in the village centre, which includes the Parish Church of St Martin, and nearby premises such as a hairdresser, Old Kirk Cafe, Old Curio Shop, Stags Head Inn, and Rose Cottage on Church Street.
