Description
The Spinney is a building located at the angle between Brantfell Road and Belsfield Road in Bowness, dating from 1834, although it likely has origins in the early 18th century and has undergone alterations. It features roughcast over stone rubble and has an old slate roof. The building is two storeys high with round chimneys. A gabled porch with a boarded door is present, along with two windows on each floor that have wooden mullions and small leaded panes, which are new but designed in an old style. The windows are topped with old slate dripstones. The end facade is cut away to accommodate a large semi-circular bow window, also with small leaded panes. At the rear, there is a catslide staircase roof. Modern alterations have been made in a Georgian style that maintain the building's character.
