Description

The farm buildings immediately to the west of Witherslack Hall Farmhouse are likely from the mid to late 19th century. They are constructed of dressed limestone with rock-faced dressings and slate roofs, although many have been replaced with corrugated iron. The buildings are arranged in a quadrangular plan with wings extending to the north and east.

The south elevation is single storey with five bays, where the fifth bay features two storeys under a gable. The windows have rock-faced mullions and lintels, arranged in a pattern of 3:3:2 lights. The fourth bay projects forward and includes a casement window, while the end bay has two-light windows. The south-west corner is canted.

The two-storey east elevation has a central passage, with stable doors on either side that have loading doors above them, and windows featuring louvred openings above. The two-storey west elevation includes a gabled first bay with three-light windows and a projecting entrance with paired doors in the second bay. There are four windows and pitching holes flanking the loading door.

The two-storey north elevation has some three-light windows, and there are single storey east and north ranges that form a small courtyard with large openings. The east wing, which is two storeys, has large entrances, while a small single storey projection extends to the south and an even smaller single storey projection extends to the east. The courtyard features an outshut with a catslide roof to the east, along with a gable over a former entrance. The east range includes stabling and loose boxes, while the outshut and south range contain cowhouses.
