Barn To North Of Middlelow Wood

This building is a barn located to the north of Middlelow Wood, likely dating from the 18th century, featuring a re-used cruck truss and some later additions. It is constructed from stone rubble and topped with a slate roof. The west elevation includes a later lean-to outshut that has two stable doors and garage doors on the south side. The barn entrance on the north side has paired pivoted doors. An extension to the north features a pentice over two doors. The north gable end has an entrance with a pivoted wide-boarded door, which has horizontal battens and one vertical batten, secured with a wood latch and hung with the inner face out. The interior has not been inspected but is said to possibly contain a late medieval full cruck truss with spurs and principal rafters, with the roof being higher; there are signs of two cross beams below the spurs and collar.
