Description
The building is a barn located to the west of Woodlands Farmhouse, dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of coursed and squared lias stone, with some timber framing and weatherboarding, and features a roof made of plain tiles and corrugated iron. The barn has a long, low structure with a rectangular plan that includes approximately ten bays, and its roof is designed to sweep down to provide shelter to the side of the farmhouse. There is also a tiled lias lean-to on this side.
The stables, located at one end of the building, consist of three bays and have two-light casement windows with glazing bars, a ground floor transomed window, and a central door with voussoirs, along with a horizontally divided plank door that includes a transom light. There is a through-way between the barn and the stables.
Inside the barn, the roof features trusses of varying ages, with at least one truss showing evidence of a cruck, while the remaining trusses mainly consist of tie beams. Although there is some minor medieval evidence, the entire structure was rebuilt in the 18th century.
