Description
This is a double barn located immediately to the north of Pool Bank Farmhouse, likely built in the late 17th century or early 18th century, with an extension dated 1733. The barn is constructed of roughcast stone and has a slate roof. It is a large building featuring gabled wings on the west side. The left wing has a slate datestone inscribed with "TDH/1733" and includes incised decoration. Both wings are topped with ball finials and have pentices over the ground floor entrances and windows. The first-floor windows are set under dripstones; the left wing has dove-cote entrances framed in a triangular shape, while the right wing has a panel above and a top dripstone. The central section of the barn has two entrances with pentices and paired pivoted doors, along with ventilation slots in between. The left entrance features three stone panels above it. The rear of the barn includes a late 20th-century cow house, which is of no special interest, and an inserted window. Inside, the barn has collar and tie beam trusses and a cross wall located to the south of the center line.
