Description

Town End Dairy Farmhouse and outbuilding is a farmhouse, probably from the 18th century. It is constructed of roughcast stone and has a slate roof. The building is in a T-plan layout and has two storeys. The north wing consists of three bays and features a lean-to outhouse at the end. The west facade includes a dripcourse, and the windows are sashed with glazing bars; the ground floor has paired sashes, while the first floor has windows with vertical glazing bars only. The entrance features a six-panel door, and there is a gable-end stack. The east facade has casement windows and a stair window, with an adjacent entrance that has a wide-boarded door in a lean-to porch.

The outhouse has a three-light unglazed wooden-mullioned window on the north side. The west wing has a two-bay north facade and a three-bay south facade, with a two-bay outbuilding to the west. The north facade of the outbuilding has a small-paned casement in the angle and windows with tripartite sashes with glazing bars in the second bay. There are two entrances to the outbuilding, which includes cow house partitions at the west end. The south facade features sashed windows, with paired windows in the first bay of the first floor and others being tripartite; the end bay is higher and has gable-end stacks. There is a cross-axial stack at the end of the house part, along with a barn entrance and low blocked openings with timber lintels to the left. The interior includes a stair with turned balusters and square newels, as well as a small cupboard with a door.
