Description
The Quaker Burial Ground walls date back to 1658, with later extensions added to the south, enclosing an area measuring approximately 15 meters by 40 meters. The walls are constructed of stone rubble and surround the burial ground on all four sides, with an entrance located on the north side. The inner face of the north wall features stone benches, and there are remains of similar benches on the inner face of the east wall at the northern end. The entrance is marked by a stone lintel with a slate drip course and 20th-century paired doors. The land for the burial ground was purchased in 1658, and an indenture describing it is dated 1669. This site is recognized as a very early example of a burial ground for the Society of Friends.
