3/52 Borrowdale Head 21.11.52 Farmhouse and attached barn

Farmhouse and bank barn. Probably C17 with later outshut. Stone rubble, front of house painted, and slate roof. East elevation of 2 storeys and 2 bays, barn to north. Ground floor windows are sashed with glazing bars and horns; 1st floor has pivoted casements, that to 1st bay paired. Gabled porch has return entrance. Gable-end stacks and cross-axial stack. Barn has 5 small openings and blocked entrance, with winnowing door above. North return has pivoted door to cow house entrance. West elevation has outshut under catslide roof and large squat stack to left return, which has C20 lean-to outhouse. Barn door up ramp has roof raised above eaves. Lower level entrance. Interior of house not inspected, said to have mid C18 fireplace and cupboard, early C18 stair; originally had plaster panel of rose tree, possibly now covered up.
