Description
Huck's Bridge is a bridge over Borrow Beck, built in 1826. It features stone rubble construction and has two round arches with triangular cutwaters on the piers and raking abutments. The bridge has a plain parapet with a band on the eastern side. The roadway is approximately 15.5 meters wide, of which about 9 meters is the width of the original bridge. Huck's Bridge is part of the route from Heron Syke to Eamont Bridge, which was established as a turnpike road in the 1820s, replacing the older route over High Borrow Bridge. The bridge has had 20th-century parapets and widening added to the east. It was designed by Francis Webster and J.L. McAdam.
