II

Detached house. C18 or early C19. Whitewashed rubble, slate roof. A small L-plan cottage set high on the slope of Summerhouse Hill, probably original a 2-room cottage, to which lower wing added to SE. 2 storeys. The main range has a small 2-light casement, and a small-pane casement oriel with gable; to the left is a part-glazed C19 door under a transom light with oval glazed light, to a wood lintel and on 2 deep steps. The gable to the right has an external stack with a C20 window at first floor and a circular light to ground floor, left, below the terrace level. The left gable also has a stack, and a large flat-roofed semi-octagonal oriel brought forward from the roof of the lower wing. The wing has a 2-light casement in the gable, above a door, and two 2-light facing the entrance. There is a small eaves stack on the far side. INTERIOR: not accessible. The small scale of the building suggests early provenance.
