Description
COUNTISBURY SS 74 NE 4/22 Ruined outbuilding approximately 20 metres to north of Home Farm Cottage GV II Outbuilding, former use unknown. Circa 1850. Uncoursed stone rubble, with some red brick dressings to openings. Roofless at time of survey (July 1987); formerly gable-ended, probably slated. Plan: rectangular plan. In a Gothic Revival style. 1 storey. Exterior: 2 windows to right of left-hand doorway. Mid C19 wooden cross windows with octagonal -pattern glazing bars, left-hand one very dilapitated at time of survey (July 1987). Gabled stone porch to left with brick 2-centred Gothic archway. Window opening in left-hand gable-end, probably formerly 4-light wooden mullioned and transomed window with segmental brick-arched head, and 4-light,wooden mullioned and transomed window in right-hand gable end. Interior: windows with internal wooden lintels. This building is similar in style to the laundry wing added to the Home Farmhouse (q.v) in 1853.
